Healthy habits for the Family

Orange

Orange foods are loaded with beta carotene, which may help boost the immune system, maintain healthy skin, bones and eyesight.

The potassium in citrus fruits also help ward off heart disease.

Some foods orange in color that are good healthy choices are carrots, mangoes, pumpkin, cantaloupe and sweet potatoes.

Red

Lycopene is a substance in tomatoes and watermelon, which may reduce the risk of heart disease. The resveratrol in red grapes may help treat lung disease and asthma as well as lower the risk of heart disease.

Some red foods that are good to chose are tomatoes, red onions, watermelon, red grapes, strawberries, and red bell peppers.

Remember to wash your fruits and veggies well before eating and enjoy the rich taste and color that comes with the foods that are orange and red.
