Healthy Habits for the Young Athlete

"The higher your energy level, the more efficient your body. The more efficient your body, the better you feel and the more you will use your talent to produce outstanding results."

--Anthony Robbins

Nutrition plays a key role in the life of a young athlete. Food is the fuel that produces energy needs for your child and helps in maximizing their physical, emotional, academic and spiritual potential.

I have heard it said that we must begin to see ourselves as a soul with a body and not a body with a soul. It is important that our children see their bodies as a gift and gain a knowledge of being a good steward of that gift.

Our role as parents is to teach and model a healthy approach to living. Those tools will not only benefit your child on the field but off as well. What parent wouldn't want a child to be dedicated to making healthy choices not only with food but other aspects of living?

Looking at our health in a proper perspective not only holds us to a higher standard but gives our children a better chance at a full and energetic life now and in the future.

As we approach a new season, a better season, may we learn together to be dedicated not only to the lessons baseball can instill but dedicated to a better tomorrow through healthy choices that we make and pass on to our little athletes.

Thursday 3/1 Practice

Practice thursday 3/1 @ 4pm to focus primarily on situational fielding & baserunning. This will be held @ our east training facility & will re-focus our attention to the fundamentals & staying mentally alert & aware throughout the entire 6 innings of a ballgame. We take ugly W's, but know that we need to correct our mistakes.

See you there...

Quote of the Day

"What you lack in talent can be made up w/desire, hustle & giving 110% all of the time."

Player Profiles

It took an ugly W to get us to 3-0, but we'll take it. In the meantime, we've got a questionnaire for our parents to help our little friars fill out so we can get to know more about them. They'll be featured sporadically throughout the 1st part of the season here @ padresbaseball, so please help & get these back to Coach Lee.

Thanks for all the effort that's gone into making the preseason a success so far & please keep in mind that it's only going to get better from here. We've got a great bunch & are looking forward to an amazing season of padre's baseball. Hope you're as excited as parents as we are as coaches to propel our boys to new heights through this great game.

Email your answers to Coach Lee as soon as you can.

Padres Baseball

Here is where it all begins. The birth of an over-arcing dream to fuel those of wide-eyed boys, proud papa's & nervous mama's that allow us the honor & privilege of sharing the summer as part of the family. Grown men that are as passionate about the game as they are the boys w/a hope to share this with as many as will allow.
