Healthy Habits for the Family

We all know that vegetables are a necessary part of a healthy diet.

So, what do some of these vegetables contribute to our diets. Here are some facts on just a few of those vegetable choices.

yellow peppers - a half a cup provides your recommended daily amount of vitamin C.

edamame - Like meat, edamame provides all the essential amino acids.

parsnips - very high in fiber.

arugula - this has four times the calcium of romaine.

kale - contains cancer fighting sulforaphane.

asparagus - contains folate, necessary for heart health.

This is just a handful of vegetables that contain the good stuff we all need. Most of the time we tend to eat the same kind of fruits and veggies. Experiment and have fun in the kitchen trying new foods and new recipes.

Remember variety is the spice of life.
